FAQs – Fairgame Wildlife™ Trophies

At Fairgame, we're happy to answer any trophy questions you may have. Write us at info@fairgamewildlife.com if you don't find the answer to your question below.

What's the difference between a "trophy mounted on a plaque" and one with a "big-game shoulder mount"?

Some trophies are mounted on handmade wooden plaques. An attractive oval piece of wood is left showing all around the trophy. Others, like our buffalo, are made in the traditional "big-game shoulder mount" style. That means the fur at the back of the trophy is pulled over the wood backing to leave no wood showing. Both styles are finished products; ready to hang and enjoy. Both styles project a unique image of the great outdoors.

Which one is your most popular trophy?

Every year we notice that it's different, but it's always a moose. Jack is the only one to ‘officially’ win a popularity contest. He came in second at the New England Products Trade Show for Best New Product in 2006.

Costumes and Accessories

Party products' stores are great places to find costumes and accessories for your trophies. You will find items for theme parties, places, holidays, sports, and seasons. Much like pets; Fair Game Wildlife enjoy wearing different items, and looking handsome or beautiful!

How do I display my trophy?

All trophies arrive ready to hang and enjoy. A self-leveling bracket hanger is installed on the back of each.

What do I need for a wall hanger?

It really depends on your wall. Our studio is drywall and we use classic 30 lb. and 50 lb. picture hangers for everything. We recommend you use a 50 lb. conventional picture hook for our larger animals (i.e., Tatanka, Wakan, Cliff, Vinnie, Jack, and Erik). You don't need it for the weight, but this hanger is a bit wider. We've found that it grabs and stabilizes the mass of the larger plaques or shoulder mounts very well.

What are your products stuffed with?

All Fair Game animals are stuffed with 100% pure polyester fiberfill. Both the stuffing and the fur fabric are made in the United States. We feel very good about that fact.

Are they heavy?

Not at all! In fact, people are often surprised by how light they are. Jack is one of the heaviest ones. His size is massive, and he only weighs 7 lbs. See Mary holding Jack on our About Fairgame page.

How would you describe the plaques you use?

If you order your trophy as a plaque mount, you might like to know that our wooden oval plaques are designed exclusively for our line of trophies. They are all solid white pine, stained "Early American" and finished with satin urethane.

How do I care for my trophy?

Each animal comes with its own "grooming tips." The tips are nothing complicated. Just ideas on how to brush the fur and pose the antlers or horns. Dust them from time to time if you feel so inclined.
